The Ellenborough club’s annual championships were held at Kimberley Gardens during May with finals night on Thursday, 13^th May. The event was as successful as ever and a record number of juniors took part. 

Thirteen years old, Suchira Gallage, collected trophies for winning both the Middle and Minor Singles, against senior opposition, the Cadet Boys Singles against Joe Chacholiades. 

David Fitzgerald, in his last event as a junior, narrowly won the Boys Singles (Under 18 years) beating the redoubtable Joe Chacholiades in a nail-biter. Jodie Sparrey beat Gillian Fung in the Girls Under 18’s final and Marc and Lindsey Armstrong proved too strong for David Fitzgerald and Jodie Sparrey in the final of the Junior Mixed event. Joe Chacholiades and David Fitzgerald took the Junior Open Doubles trophy, proving too strong against Brett Gerbaldi and Suchira Gallage.
