Essex 4*
Three girls from Ellenborough took part in the Junior Essex 4* tournament held in Harlow on 26/27 February. Lindsey Armstrong, Jodie and Megan Sparrey all entered the U18 event on the Saturday morning. All three girls played extremely well to come through their groups against tough opposition, with Lindsey and Jodie recording superb wins against much higher ranked players. In the main draw Lindsey and Megan were unlucky to face each other in the first round. On this occasion Megan had the edge, progressing to the next round where she succumbed to the number one seed.

The following day Lindsey and Megan were in action once again – this time in the U15 event. They came through the group section with relative ease, both topping their respective groups. In the main draw they recorded further impressive wins, Lindsey finally falling in the round of 16 and Megan in the quarterfinals – once again to the number one seed.

Girls National Junior League
Having gone into the final session of the Girls NJL with an eleven points advantage if our girls thought this was going to be an easy passage to the gold medals, they soon discovered it was anything but. Faced with Southampton West in the first match they managed a 6-3 win which was disappointing compared with to the 9-0 whitewash of the previous round. Worse followed in the shape of a 5-4 defeat to Generation II, this was their first defeat of the whole tournament and caused much drooping of shoulders.

However, they did not remain downhearted for long and picked themselves up to record a hard fought 5-4 victory against Chesham HS ‘A’ which left them topping the table by 4 points. Congratulations to Jodie and Megan Sparrey, Emma Lucas and Rachel Ariya.
