Ellenborough 4 v Ellenborough 6
Played 8th May 2006 at Edmonton TTC Ellenborough 4 met Ellenborough 6 in the final and because of Ellenborough’s building programme the match was played at Edmonton. Ellenborough 4 were represented by Peter Bussey, David Wilson and June Nelson and they were against Hoxley Baron, Mark Parris and Brett Garibaldi, playing for Ellenborough 6. The teams were equally matched in the ability to win but Ellenborough 4 had more experience. It was a close match with the first doubles going to P Bussey and J Nelson, beating B Garibaldi and M Parris, 4/11, 11/9, 11/8, 6/11, 7/11. But then Hoxley Baron played well to beat D Wilson 11/9 in the fifth. June Nelson then beat Mark Parris 8/11, 7/11, 9/11 to put Ellenborough 4 in the lead. But then Brett played very well to beat David Wilson 13/11 in the fifth. Hoxley then beat Peter Bussey 11/3, 8/11, 11/1, 11/7 to put the youngsters in front 3-2. Peter Bussey and David Wilson then played doubles against Hoxley and Mark and brought the game back to 3 – 3 June Nelson then beat Brett Garibaldi 11/5, 8/11, 11/13, 11/6, 5/11 and finally Peter Bussey beat Mark Parris 5/11, 2/11, 11/13. It was a very good final as you never knew which team would end up in front and the young team should have gained lots of experience which should help them to play well next season.
