On a wet and windy Saturday morning (25 November)
Ellenborough Table Tennis Club took part in National Tree week by planting
new trees at their Kimberley Gardens site in Enfield. During the summer the clubhouse was extended and
refurbished with a grant from the Community Club Development Fund. This
necessitated removing some trees in the vicinity of the new social area. Part financed by a generous donation of £325 from
the Tree Council, a charity overseeing National Tree week, a dozen or so
junior boys and girls from the club participated in planting seven
replacement trees. The club contributed the balance of the cost from its
funds. Apart from encouraging young people to take an
interest in the environment, the trees will be a permanent reminder of the
part played by the club in this most worthwhile project.
