Alan Harwood - In Rememberance
We have just learned of Alan Harwoods death in January of this year. He was a well respected International umpire and long standing Ellenborough member.

We were all sad to hear of the death of Alan Harwood a Middlesex Internatinal Umpire and one of
our leading umpires. His funeral took place in Swansea in January following a lengthy period of ill health, and a memorial service was held in February at his chapel in Muswell Hill, London.
Alan qualified as a County Umpire for Middlesex over twenty years ago, travelling to different parts of England. Like many others he worked his way through the ranks until he became an International Umpire, then umpired bigger events such as the Commonwealth Games, Island Games, European and World events for both juniors and seniors abroad. He was an excellent umpire but never too proud to umpire local British League and County matches at Ellenborough.
When the Association of English Table Tennis Umpires was founded in 2004 Alan was one of the first to join, and he will always be remembered. He was a member of the National Umpires and Referees Committee and used his expertise to help and support other umpires. As an umpire there was none better, as a friend one couldn't wish for better.
