Weekend 2 Junior British League,
Derby Arena 10/11th February 2018

Three Ellenborough teams made the trip to Derby. Ellenborough Girls A lying second in the Premier Division trying to hold on to their title, the team was made up of Kate Cheer, Jasmin Wong and Amelia Chan.

Ellenborough Girls B currently in second position in Division 1. There line up was Anaya Patel, Millie Rogove & Samadhi Udamulla.

Ellenborough Boys in Division 4A are made up of Lehman Chan, Jaycee Chan are Ray Jiang Yan.

Girls Premier Division

In the girls’ Premier Division, with two rounds to go before the top four teams play a mini round robin to see who would be this years Champions, Ellenborough are lying second to Burton Uxbridge 1, just one point behind.

There two matches were against both of the Burton Uxbridge teams. This would be a tall order as no. 1 player Denise Payet was again unavailable as she was concentrating on her England duties, preparing for the ITTF Team World Cup 2018.

First match was against BU 2, and resulted in a 3 -3 draw, then a defeat aginst BU 1, 1 - 5, our chances of retaining the title were now all but over, but with two dissapointing results could we hold on to second position. In the three previous years of being in the Premier division we were either 1st or 2nd and did not want to drop any lower.

First match in the mini round robin was London Academy, a 3 - 3 draw, then a 5 - 1 win over XLNT Draycott 1. Final match was against this years Champions Burton Uxbridge 1, another 1 - 5 defeat. However we managed to hold on to second place which kept up our record on being either 1st or 2nd for the last four years.

In the mini-round robin series all of the girls played well and won 6 out of 12 games, so all three ended on 50%.
